Ryan Duval
Windsor Law, Year 2
Ryan’s desire to attend law school has stemmed from intellectual curiosity and an untiring pursuit of knowledge. In conjunction with his legal education, he has pledged to support individuals who have confronted challenges similar to the deeply personal and systemic ones he has both met and overcame. Ryan recognizes that our circumstances are not always a reflection of our true abilities.
Ryan is the current Vice-President of the Windsor chapter of BLSA. In this role, Ryan took the lead to raise $2,500.00 for the Justice Juanita Westmoreland-Traoré Leadership Scholarship. During the summer of 2010, Ryan travelled to Cape Town, South Africa as a group leader for Golden Future, a University of Windsor not-for-profit student group, where he worked with high-school students in the black community of Khayelitsha. Ryan led the facilitation of a community engagement module focussed on the establishment of a sustainable system of systemic change. Ryan continues to work towards contributing to the accomplishments of BLSAC members in general, as well as those of the larger Black legal community.
Congratulations Ryan, BLSAC recognizes your hard work and we wish you all the best in the future!
Each year BLSAC will recognize two members (one per semester) as BLSAC member of the semester. The bi-annual award will be presented to a BLSA member* who supports and enhances the academic, professional and networking opportunities for Black law students. Students are selected based on their community involvement and participation in their local BLSA chapter.
